OVERVIEW

Come Face To Face With Nature

Shuklaphanta wildlife reserve is one of Nepals largest national parks. It was established in 1976. Located in the far western Terai is on the southwest edge of Nepal it covers parts of Dolpa and Mugu District with an area of 305 sq km. Shuklaphanta it is two thirds forest. Its grassland is the largest in Nepal.

Marsh vegetation is found along rivers and lakes.

The jungle safari in the Shuklaphanta wildlife reserve is an exciting and engaging exploration of the lush pristine subtropical jungle. Many species of threatened animals now live in the reserve including High-speed hare, pygmy hog, Snow leopard, Bengal tigers, rhinos, crocodiles, wild elephants and swamp deer. The reserve was originally a hunting area but fortunately it became a wildlife reserve principally in order to preserve the swamp deer. Shuklaphanta shelters almost 2000 swamp deer as well as around 50 wild elephants, 30 tigers, Spotted deer, blue bulls, barking deer, hog deer, wild boars, leopards, jackals, langurs and rhesus monkeys.

The reserve provides habitat to sarus crane, swamp francolin, grass owl, warblers, flycatchers, and the endangered Bengal Florican. Reptile species include marsh mugger, crocodile, cobra and python. The reserve also holds Nepal’s largest breeding population of Bengal floricans and hispid hare. The Rani Tal inside the reserve is a great attraction for animals and migratory birds.

Day 01 : Drive to Suklaphanta

Drive from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and drive from Nepalgunj to Suklaphanta.

Day 02 : Shuklaphanta sightseeing and village tour

Today we will set out for a village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus.We will enjoy dinner and our overnight stay here

Day 03 : Full days activities on Shuklaphanta wildlife reserve

Today we will enjoy many activities in the Sukla Fanta Wildlife Reserve. After we have enjoyed bird watching we will head off for a spectacular elephant Safari. This gives us an excellent opportunity to see Asian Elephant, Great One Horn Rhinoceros, Spotted Deer or Chital, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Samber, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Nilgai or Bull, Black Buck, Wild Boar, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Wild Dog, Golden Jackal and Striped Hyena. We will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Bardia their home. Next we will take a jungle walk, this is arguably the best opportunity to see the wild animals, small mammals and birds close up. We can take a panoramic view from the tower. On this trip we will be accompanied by our experienced naturalists and wild life trackers. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful. We conclude our day by watching a Tharu cultural dance and enjoying a delicious dinner.

Day 04 : Bird watching and head back to kathmandu

Early in the morning we will enjoy a bird watching tour. There is a good opportunity for relaxation and also an option to explore other nearby villages.Following Lunch we will make our departure and connection by bus for Kathmandu.It takes 4 days for a round trip beginning and ending in Kathmandu.
