The Gokyo Lake system in the Everest region comprises 6 beautiful lakes which are the world’s highest freshwater lakes. Gokyo Lake is also known as the” third lake”. Its natural beauty and amazingly blue waters make it an extremely popular destination. The Gokyo valley trek offers spectacular views of snow covered craggy mountains, glaciers forests of rhododendrons and pine trees, as well as culturally rich villages. The stunning view from Gokyo Ri offers one of the best views of Mount Everest and an amazing panorama of mountains across the region.

This trek is a wonderful opportunity to experience the culture and beauty of the Himalayas. It begins with a spectacular flight to Lukla followed by a trek to the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar, “the gateway to Mount Everest”. We then head left into the valley towards Gokyo via Mongla la Danda with spectacular mountain views all along the way. The trail continues towards Dole through forests of pine trees and rhododendron flowers. If you seek adventure and an amazing journey of a lifetime this is for you!

Day 01: Arrival day (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, we will greet you and escort you to the Hotel. We can meet later on that day or the next day (as you wish) to take you to our office for a briefing on the upcoming Trek with us. At that time we will introduce you to your trekking guide. If your flight arrives on time, we will take you to one of the most popular local restaurants with delicious Nepalese food, cultural music and ethnic dance and if not we could do this the following day. This will give you a taste of the different ethnic groups of the country.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)

After breakfast, you will begin a city tour of Kathmandu where you will see the main attractions of the valley. On this tour you will visit the Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Swyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square (the old palace). After finishing the city tour, we will meet again to check your clothing and trekking equipment (sleeping bag, down jacket and trekking boots). This evening will be spent in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding. (2,652m/8,700ft) 4-5 hrs walk

We drive to airport early in the morning as per flight departure time to take our flight to lukla (2,800m). It is scenic flight about 35 minutes which gives you a perfect site of mountain the range. Once you are at Lukla airport, meet our other trekking members there and take breakfast at the lodge. When you have prepared and handed over your luggage to the Porters the walking will start. The trail takes you through the stone paved trails towards Bhaisekharka. It is few up downs to get in to Phakding passing through plenty of prayer Rocks (Mani in local language). After arriving at your lodge at Phakding you may wish to freshen up and take a short walk to the village or hike up to the Gompa to get acclimatized. You will stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazzar. (3440m/11,283ft), 5-6 hrs walk

After a hot breakfast at your lodge, the trail leads towards the suspension bridge and easy uphill to the Monju from where Sagarmatha National Park begins. After short National Park formalities you will drop down to the river, and cross another suspension bridge then continue the walk to the high Hilary Bridge at the bottom of the hill. Thereafter the trail leads steeply uphill to Namche Bazzar. On the way you will have great view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Kusum Khangru and more from the beautiful valley.You will stay overnight at the Lodge in Namche.

Day 05: Acclimatize day

Today you can explore the Museum, visit Khumjung village and Khongde village where you can enjoy views of Mt. Everest and surroundings peaks and experience the Sherpa culture. You can also visit Thame which is old Sherpa village. For the remainder of the day you can explore Namche Bazzar where you can use the Internet, visit National Park head office, Museum and monastery or whatever you wish. you will stay overnight at Namche.

Day 06: Trek to Dole. (4,200m/13,779ft)

After breakfast at Namche, the trail leads uphill to the ridge of Namche and take an easy walk to Kyagjuma. On this stretch you may experiencebreathtaking views of Mt. Everest,Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam and many more peaks. After a short break at Kyagjuma, the trail leads uphill towards east of the ridge and to the Mongla pass which is on the top of the ridge having great scenery. After that the trail drops down to the river side walking through the Rhododendron forest and continues the climb up to Dole for an overnight stay.

Day 07: Trek to Machherma. (4,470m/14,665), 5-6 hrs walk

Today your walk begins with short climb to the ridge and continue walk towards north. There are some tea shops on the way where you may wish to take a relaxing tea break . There is less vegetation today but there are magnificent views of the mountains and peaks. Finally reach at Machharmo for your overnight stay

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo (4,790m/15,715ft), 4 hrs walk

After a hot breakfast at the lodge, the trail ascends for a while to the ridge and an easy flat walking to the bottom of small rocky mountain. Then a short climb to cross the bridge and get in to the first lake. The trial continues up to the second lake and other hand glacier which we cannot see from the trail. Finally reach to the Third Lake which is Gokyo Lake. Lodges are located on the lake side which is a magnificent sight. You will stay overnight at the Lodge.

Day 09: Explore day

Today we will hike up to the Gokyo Ri for beautiful mountain views and probably one of the best views of Mt. Everest. It is steep climbing and hard walking but as you climb up you be awestruck by the increasingly spectacular views. After taking your photographs from the top, we walk back down to the lodge for lunch and hike around the glacier. Stay overnight at the Lodge.

Day 10: Trek to Dole (4,200m/13,779ft), 4-5 hrs walk

After breakfast at the lodge the trek drops easy downhill towards Machhermo and continues to Dole. It is pleasant walking through the valley. Even though this is the same way down the walk has a completely different feel as you see new and different views from a different angle. Also it will prompt you to recall what you have achieved on the ascent!Your overnight stay will be at Dole.

Day 11: Trek to Khumjung (3,580m/11,780ft), 5-6 hrs walk

The trail drops down through the forest of rhododendron and steep climb to Mong la danda. Is has great scenery of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and many more peaks as well as dense wildlife of some species of Pheasants, Himalayan Griffons, Musk deer and wild goat can be found insides the rhododendron forest. After that the trail slidely drops down to Kyanjuma and again short climb to Khumjung for your overnight stop.

Day 12: Trek to Monju (2,850m/9,348ft), 6-7 hrs walk

This morning the trail leads up through the Lhunde village and continues via a short climb to hidden valley where Khumjung village is located. This is a famous place for climbers and there is a hospital run by charity nearby. After exploring around the village the trail leads to Namche Bazzar via the Syangboche airstrip which is the worlds highest airstrip. From the ridge you can see breathtaking views of Namche where we will stop for the lunch and continue walk to Monju for your overnight break.

Day 13: Trek to Lukla(2,652m/8,700ft) 4-5 hrs walk

After breakfast at the lodge, the trail drops downhill through the pine forest till to the bridge and continues to Lukla. In the Evening you can stroll around the small town and get ready for the morning flight to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Normally flights are in the morning due to the weather. Your guide will complete all the airport formalities and will have ensured your luggage is safely at the airport before you arrive there. You can have a breakfast at the lodge and once your guide gets news about your flight arrival at Lukla airport we will call you to watch how the light aircraft get to land on the the small airstrip. After a quick photograph, we get in to the airport and straight away board the plane to fly out to Kathmandu. Once you are at the airport at Kathmandu, guide will escort you to your hotel by a private vehicle.

Day 15: Final departure

Today is the last day of the trip with us. If you would like to extend your holiday with us simply ask, otherwise we will get you to the airport to meet your flight departure time. If your flight is late evening, you can do last minute shopping or manage your photos of the trip before your final (and sorrowful) departure from the airport.
